Project Description: 

Bottle Rockets?  More like bottle cannons!  In this explosively exciting experiment, students will design and test pneumatic rockets that reach great heights.  What better way to apply their knowledge of forces acting on objects than with a real application? Students will use projectile motion calculations to determine the optimal conditions for launching the rocket across the test site.  Let’s see who can most accurately predict where their projectile will land!

In this lesson the core concepts focused on will be: 

• Gas law calculations
• Projectile motion

Note: All lessons include a presentation and a hands on building period which they then use to perform various tests.

Cost: 

• This is a take home project, each student will build and keep their own
• $300 + $5/student for a class of up to 30 students
• Price includes all materials, two qualified facilitators and all consumables required
